Why are temperature conversions special?
Temperature scales do not share a common zero point, so the converter uses offset-based formulas for Celsius, Fahrenheit, and Kelvin rather than a simple multiplier. This is also why the result for freezing and boiling points looks different from length or mass conversions. The other categories scale proportionally from a shared zero.
