Working with documents in your browser
These tools cover document assembly, page changes and conversion into images or plain text. Your PDFs are processed locally in your browser; files are not uploaded. Choose according to the output you need, then check page order, orientation and legibility in the downloaded copy before sharing it.
Large PDFs can exceed available device memory, especially when pages are rendered as images. Merging may affect interactive forms and bookmarks. Compression can reduce image detail; its Smallest mode also removes selectable text and interactive features. Rewriting during compression invalidates digital signatures, so retain the original when its document properties matter.
Questions before you choose
Can I extract words from a scanned PDF?
Text extraction needs an existing text layer. A scan made only of page images needs OCR instead: PDF OCR recognises such pages in your browser and can save a searchable PDF. Even with selectable text, complex columns may need manual correction.
Will compression meet my attachment limit?
A target size is a request, not a guaranteed result. Documents containing mostly text or already compressed pictures may shrink very little. Compare the reported size and inspect small print before using the downloaded version.
Can I open a password-protected document?
Support depends on the operation. The text extractor can request the correct opening password, while merging and compression do not support encrypted input. For those operations, use an unencrypted copy you are authorised to create.
Are processing and downloads free?
The tools and their downloads are free, and the website displays ads. Document processing happens on your device, without sending the source PDFs to a server for conversion.
